Union UMC in Upper Marlboro receives 1st Woman Pastor in its 135 Year History – On February 21, 2022 Bishop LaTrelle Easterling appointed Rev. Twanda Prioleau to Union UMC effective July 1. Rev. Prioleau will make history as it’s first woman pastor.


Lexington Park UMC is looking for a Director of Children and Family Ministries.  As the Director of Children and Family Ministries, you'll be a key player in strategizing and administering Lexington Park UMC's family related programs. This role will drive systems for impacting lives through family interactions, programs and local ministry partnerships. With a high degree of energy and excellent leadership, administrative and team-building skills, the Children and Family Ministry Director will propel LPUMC further in its mission to Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World.

Certified Lay Ministers | Baltimore-Washington Conference UMC

Certified Lay Ministers serve in local churches providing assistance to pastors. Sometimes, they are assigned by a district superintendent to provide pastoral leadership in small congregations. The idea of laity serving as lay preachers, exhorters, and class leaders goes back to the early day of Methodism. www.bwcumc.org 

Applications for the 2022-2024 CLM class of the Baltimore-Washington Conference are now being accepted. Learn more. The application process includes meeting with the pastor, local SPRC, and the district superintendent before the July 1 deadline. The class starts in September and is a two-year commitment. Questions may be directed to Linda Flanagan, Conference Director of Lay Servant Ministries.
