2021 Annual Conference
The 237th Session of the Baltimore-Washington Conference, scheduled for Oct. 25-27, will now be held entirely online. The business of the conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday with the clergy and laity sessions and end early Wednesday evening with the Ordination Service.
As our country enters the fourth surge of COVID-19, conference leaders canceled the option of gathering in-person at the Hilton Hotel in Baltimore and retained only the online portion of this year’s annual conference. Because this will result in financial savings, the money every member has paid for registration will be refunded.
If you have already registered for the in-person session, there is no need to do so again. The Hilton Hotel has cancelled registrations that were made associated with this event.
The three-day annual conference session will be live-streamed. The plenary and worship services are being redesigned to best accommodate online engagement. An in-person ordination service (which will also be live-streamed) will be held at a church near the Mission Center. Attendance will be limited to those being ordained and commissioned and a few of their family members and friends.
No registration will be accepted after Sept. 27 at midnight. This is because voting codes must be generated, and other logistical details attended to.
A virtual Pre-Conference Session will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to noon. Members should register for this online session.
All registrants must register and attend one of the voting training events scheduled for Oct. 19 at noon and Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
The theme of this year’s session is “Still One: Standing, Transforming, Rising.” The guiding Scripture is Galatians 3:23-29.
