2021 Annual Conference
The 237th Session of the Baltimore-Washington Conference will be held Monday, Oct. 25, through Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the Hilton Hotel in Baltimore. The session will also be broadcast online. The business of the conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday with the clergy and laity sessions and end early Wednesday evening with the Ordination Service.
Social distancing and other COVID-19 safety protocols will be observed. This year's Session will be a hybrid one. All clergy and lay members will have the option of attending in-person or virtually. Arrangements will be made to allow those attending online to participate in the voting. All voting, virtual and in-person, will be conducted via personal devices like at the virtual 2020 annual conference. Those who don't feel comfortable enough using a smartphone or tablet to vote at the conference, should attend virtually and use their computer to vote.
Registration opens after Independence Day. Only Clergy and Lay Members will be able to attend. No guests will be permitted to register or attend.
When registering, members will be asked whether they wish to attend in person or online. Early bird registration begins July 14 through Aug. 9 and is $139, regular registration is from Aug. 9 through Sept. 8 and is $149, and late registration is from Sept. 8 through September 27 at midnight and is $199. No registration will be accepted after Sept. 27 at midnight. This is because voting codes must be generated, and registration packets mailed. Those attending virtually will receive their voting code via e-mail. There will be no on-site registration.
All lay registrants must be properly identified in Arena as a Lay Delegate to Annual Conference and clergy must have the proper clergy designation in Arena to receive proper voting codes. Any questions about registrations should be sent to the registrar at
The session will be held at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel at 401 W. Pratt St. in Baltimore. Those staying at the hotel should register directly with the Hilton, using the special link provided in their registration confirmation email. The cost is $145 a night. Hotel parking is $15 per night. Only clergy and lay delegates may attend the in-person event.
Due to the compressed schedule and the early start time on Monday attendees may want to arrive on Sunday evening.
For those wishing to eat meals at the hotel, breakfast costs $30, lunch is $40, and dinner is $50. The meals to be offered on Monday and Tuesday include breakfast, lunch and dinner. On Wednesday, breakfast and lunch will be offered. There will be a meal package available that includes Monday, breakfast, lunch and dinner, Tuesday breakfast, lunch and dinner and Wednesday, breakfast and lunch. The meal package will be $270, which represents a savings of $40.
Again, because of continued health concerns, it should be noted that there will be no registration for guests, even for the Ordination Service. The Session will be live-streamed on the BWC website.
There will be no vendors, no special meals, no childcare, and no bus service.
A virtual Pre-Conference Session will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to noon. The Connectional Table will meet Saturday, Aug. 28, to discuss resolutions coming before Annual Conference.
All registrants must register and attend one of the voting training events scheduled for Oct. 19 at noon or Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
The deadline for submitting resolutions to Conference is Monday, Aug. 2. Resolutions should be sent to the BWC Secretary, Kevin Silberzahn. See the guidelines and format for submitting a resolution. Committee chairs should submit their annual reports for the Conference Journal to Silberzahn by Aug. 13.
