Alice Knight, the widow of the late Rev. John L. Knight, died May 11, 2014, in Sun Lakes, Ariz. She was cremated and a memorial service was held June 12 at Beverly UMC in Beverly, NJ.

Alice Kingston was born Nov.19, 1916, in Beverly, NJ.

She and John L. Knight married in 1941. They had grown up together in Beverly in the then Methodist Episcopal church and were married 60 years before his death in 2001.

They lived in several states as he served in churches in Central New York, Ohio, North East Ohio, Nebraska and Tennessee conferences and pursued a ministry in higher education. He was president of Baldwin Wallace College in Ohio, and of Wesleyan College in Nebraska. In 1967, they moved to the Baltimore-Washington Conference area where he became president of Wesley Theological Seminary during a turbulent time.

When he retired from there in 1982, they moved to Arizona to be near family, but they retained a vacation home on the New Jersey shore, where family gatherings provided many happy memories.

Survivors include her two daughters: Merrie Crawford of Arizona, and Wendy Baker of Ohio, five grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Condolences may be sent to: Merrie Knight Crawford, 26021 S. 9th Drive, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248.
