Obituaries - February 27, 2014 - Doris Lee (Pirkey) Johnson

Doris Lee (Pirkey) Johnson,82, died suddenly Feb. 27, 2014. She was the wife of retired Local Pastor Rollins Johnson of Westminster. The Rev. Ken Dunnington officiated at afuneral service March 6 at St. James@Dennings UMC in Westminster.

Doris Lee Pirkey was born Dec. 14, 1931, in Roanoke, Va., and grew up in Baltimore, thedaughter of the late Percy Claude Pirkey and Ruby Louise (Braden) Pirkey.

She and Rollins Johnson married in 1953. For many years she was a military wife and traveled a lot. She was supportive of him and the church he served when he entered the ministry late in life. He served the Bethesda UMC in Sykesville as a local pastor for five years, 2001-2006, when he retired.

Doris Johnson’s last employer was Walnut Springs Nursery many years ago. She was an active member of St. James UMC@Dennings and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed working with ceramics and flower gardening.

She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Cynthia Louise Eustice.

Surviving in addition to her spouse are son-in-law Eric Eustice of Topeka, Kan., a sister and numerous nieces and nephews.
