Churches considering joining in creative ways with other faith communities to do vital ministry are invited to join in a Cooperative Parish Summit on Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Good Hope Union UMC in Silver Spring. The pastor, lay leader and SPRC chair (or their designee) of each interested church are encouraged to attend. A World Café, featuring rapid conversations with five current Cooperative Parish leaders from the BWC, will be held in the morning and a strategy session will be in the afternoon. Register before Jan. 19.
Cooperative parishes serve as a strategic tool for local churches to live out their vision, uniting structures and resources in a spirit of mutual cooperation. Beyond addressing financial challenges, these parishes creatively strengthen community outreach and the vitality of congregations. Recognized in the Book of Discipline, there are a variety of forms of cooperative parishes that will be explored at the Summit on Jan. 27.
This event is sponsored by the Baltimore Region and the BWC's New Faith Expressions ministry.
