On March 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the BWC will host viewing parties of the Susan Beaumont online event around her latest book, How to Lead When You Don't Know Where You Are Going. See at the Mission Center in Fulton, Williamsport UMC, and Community UMC in Crofton.

The webinar is being streamed from the Arkansas Annual Conference and the BWC has purchased viewing rights at these three locations and is offering it free to those interested in learning to lead during time of change. 

Beaumont will address "how do you lead an organization stuck between an ending and a new beginning— when the old way of doing things no longer works but a way forward is not yet clear? Such in-between times are called liminal seasons — threshold times when the continuity of tradition disintegrates and uncertainty about the future fuels doubt and chaos. In a liminal season it simply is not helpful to pretend we understand what needs to happen next. But leaders can still lead."

The event , which explore the unique challenges of connecting the soul of the leader and the institution with mission, vision and values.  is sponsored by the BWC's New Faith Expressions and Leadership and Congregational Development ministries. 

What You Will Experience:
• Enter a three-way conversation engaging God, the soul of the leader, and the soul of the institution.  • Examine the inherent leadership challenges and opportunities in liminal seasons. • Explore three fundamental shifts in orientation that invite a more soulful leadership presence. (From knowing to unknowing, from advocating to attending, from striving to surrender.) • Engage in journaling and prayer experiences that help shift your leadership presence. • Understand four bodies of work that help to connect mission, vision and values with the soul of the organization: clarifying vocation & values, tending institutional memory, deepening discernment and engaging emergence.
