The General Board of Church and Society (GBCS) of The United Methodist Church is searching for the position of Director for Environmental Justice position. GBCS seeks a highly skilled and strategic professional to lead its Environmental Justice advocacy portfolio and programmatic team. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated experience in legislative advocacy, program leadership, and team management, along with a deep commitment to advancing environmental justice grounded in the Social Principles of The United Methodist Church.

The Director for Environmental Justice is responsible for developing and implementing legislative advocacy strategies and programmatic initiatives in support of identified agency priorities. This role oversees program staff and represents United Methodist positions with the United States Government, the United Nations, and other policy and decision-making bodies. The Director works closely with the GBCS United Nations office, other United Methodist entities, and ecumenical and interfaith partners on matters related to environmental justice.

BWC Communications Freelance Graphic Designer/Writer

The Communications Department of the Baltimore-Washington Conference is seeking a skilled freelancer to support graphic design needs (along with occasional writing projects) on a project-by-project basis through the end of December. Beginning in January, this opportunity could transition into a contracted position at $30/hour for up to 20 hours per week, with the potential to increase to as many as 32 hours per week during peak seasons. Work may be done remotely, with occasional requests to attend in-person meetings, as well as regular Zoom check-ins. The Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time caretaker for Camp Harmison located outside Berkeley Springs, WV.  Camp Harmison is a 70-acre property featuring two RV and tenting areas and a small retreat house.  The caretaker is responsible for maintaining the grounds and facilities to provide a safe and welcoming environment for guests, arranging contracted work when needed, and greeting guests and accommodating their needs during their stay.  The ideal candidate will have experience in groundskeeping, carpentry, plumbing, electrical or mechanical work, and a pleasant demeanor for offering hospitality to guests.  Hours for this position are heavier during the summer months and lighter during the winter.
