2020 Annual Conference
The 236th Session of the Baltimore-Washington Conference will be Wednesday, May 27, through Friday, May 29, at the Waterfront Marriott Hotel in Baltimore. Registration is scheduled to open March 11.
The Pre-Conference Session for laity and clergy will be held Saturday, April 18, at the Ranson Civic Center at 432 W 2nd Ave. in Ranson, W.Va. from 9:30 to noon. The doors open for registration at 8:30 a.m. The briefing is designed to prepare lay and clergy members for the 236th session of the Baltimore-Washington Conference.
The laity and clergy executive sessions will be held after the Pre-Conference briefing from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The laity will meet at the Ranson Civic Center. Jodi Cataldo, director of Laity in Leadership at Discipleship Ministries, will be the speaker. Clergy will meet at Asbury UMC at 110 W. North Street in Charles Town, W.Va.
Registration for the PreConference Session opens May 26.
This year's theme is "We Are One: Going Out in Mission."
At the Annual conference Session, the Rev. Evan Young will speak at the Ministry Beyond the Local Church dinner. Bishop LaTrelle Easterling, the presiding bishop of the Baltimore-Washington Conference, will preach at the opening worship service on the evening of May 27. The Right Rev. Eugene Taylor Sutton, of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland will be the preacher at the Ordination Service on May 28. The Rev. Rudy Bropleh of Asbury UMC in Shepherdstown will preach at the Memorial Service on May 29. The Bible study leader on May 28 and 29 will be Dr. David Scott, Director of Mission Theology with the General Board of Global Ministries.
A series of mission events will be layered into the annual Conference session with a focus on mission, movement and momentum. On Wednesday, May 27, a work day at the Susanna Wesley House in Baltimore, a home for women and children, is planned. A candlelight vigil to address violence in Baltimore will follow the Ordination service.
