Participants will learn about the importance of spiritual gifts, the diverse skills and gifts given by the Holy Spirit, and how spiritual gifts are an important part of the CLS ministry as they serve their local churches and ministries. The biblical passage from 1 Corinthians 12 will be examined and discussed to support better understanding for spiritual gifts. This class will be in ASL. No voice interpretation is available for this class. Participants should have completed the Basic Class to enroll in this class. This is a 10-hour class (Track 1). When both the Basic and the Advanced classes are completed, participants are eligible to be Certified Lay Servants (CLS) within their local church, pending approval by the church pastor and/or church council.
Objectives of Class
- Participants will be able to define and list 3 or more spiritual gifts.
- Participants will be able to identify and describe 1 or more of their spiritual gifts.
- Participants will be able to design or create a ministry or ministries using their spiritual gift(s) within their local church.
Outcomes of the Class
- Participants will meet part of the Lay Servant Ministries’ requirements for becoming a Deaf CLS.
- Participants will be equipped with new or improved skills to support their servant ministries.
Meeting: (presented in ASL) Class will be held in-person at Best Western Plus Hotel, Elkridge, MD BWI Hotel. Participants must attend both days.

Class Assignments: Please read the book before class. To pass the class, participants must attend each session and complete all required assignments in the requested timeframe.
