Training Tuesdays is an online training experience to inspire and equip local church leaders to connect more people with Jesus. Using Zoom, leaders connect from 7 to 8:30 p.m. to learn from an expert about a topic that helps 100% of our congregations to become 100 percent vital.

September 15: Maryland Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) Orientation for Local Church Leaders

The planned Training Tuesday to discuss the Maryland Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program is postponed. As conference staff continues to investigate the details, there remain elements of uncertainty about how clergy and churches will be treated under the Maryland FAMLI paid leave program. The Training Tuesday webinar will be rescheduled once more definitive information is available about this new state program, which is currently set to launch on January 1, 2027.

September 22: SPRC: The Bridge Between Pulpit and Pew

Presenters: Rev. Johnsie Cogman, Two Rivers District and Rev. Elmer Davis, Upper Shore District

Description: Participants will explore the 4 C’s of effective SPRC ministry—Confidentiality, Communication, Contracts, and Congregational Accountability—while clarifying the committee’s responsibilities, boundaries, and best practices. Through practical examples, participants will learn how to build trust, strengthen pastor-congregation relationships, handle sensitive matters appropriately, fulfill personnel and contractual responsibilities, and promote healthy accountability. SPRC is not simply a committee that manages problems, but a ministry that builds bridges, strengthens relationships, supports the mission of the church, and leads courageously.

Training Tuesdays: Developing a Ministry of Advocacy - Where to begin?

In these days where each day presents another need calling out for our attention, how do we as Christians find a path toward making a difference. To quote one of our Bishops: “how do I choose which hill to climb today?” This Training Tuesday opportunity will consider how anyone can start a ministry of advocacy in their church, their community or our Annual Conference. We will share the steps involved in getting started using an example of one group of concerned Methodists that has started a Ministry of Advocacy for the Palestinian People. In addition to sharing a process for getting an advocacy ministry started, we will share information about how to find resources for your ministry, and a call for help from Palestinian Christians to the rest of the world. There will be resources provided, actions similar groups might take, and time for Q&A.

After launching Zoom, click Join a Meeting or Sign In. To sign in, use your Zoom, Google, or Facebook account. If you don't have an account, click Sign Up Free.
Refer to your registration confirmation email for a direct link to the training or for the meeting ID.
You can choose to have video on or off, but make sure you DO connect audio so you can ask questions. You will have the ability to mute yourself /turn your video on/off during the training through the tools at the top of your screen after connecting.
To ask questions, click on Participants at the top of your screen, then raise your hand. You may ask questions aloud or via the Chat tool at the top of your screen.
