More Than a Football Game: God is Moving in Berkeley Springs, WV

Indians Pre-Game, sponsored by First United Methodist Church, returned on August 28, for its third year of ministry to the students of Berkeley Springs, WV.
What started as a way to provide students with a safe place to gather before home football games has grown into so much more. Instead of walking along the roads or waiting around town, students can stop by the Pre-Game tent for free popcorn, uplifting Christian music, cornhole and other games, free devotional materials, spirit gear, and most importantly, community and conversation.
But this year, we brought something new to the table: the Four-Minute Truth Bomb.
The challenge is simple:
What truth has God been teaching you?
What have you learned from the Bible?
Can you share it in under four minutes?
A digital timer sits on the table. Push the big red button, and the countdown begins!
Last Friday, September 11, two of our local teens stepped up and shared what God has been teaching them. They shared their testimonies, relationships, and the truth that the greatest relationship we can ever have is with Jesus.
They shared their truth in under four minutes and then offered a prayer.
Four minutes.
That’s all it took for these students to stand up, share their faith, and proclaim what Jesus is doing in their lives.
This is what makes Indians Pre-Game so special. We aren’t just giving kids a place to hang out before a football game. We are creating opportunities for students to encounter Jesus, grow in their faith, encourage one another, and share the Gospel.
And we aren’t doing it alone.
This year, First United Methodist Church is proud to stand alongside skilled servant leaders and ministry partners from Refuge Community Church, Union Chapel United Methodist Church, and Berkeley Springs Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Different churches. Different ministries. One mission: Jesus.
God is moving among the students of Berkeley Springs.
And we truly believe this is the Jesus Generation.
Discipleship. Disciplined. Faithful.
