Katherine “Nell” Eastridge

Katherine “Nell” Eastridge, the wife of the late Rev. Roby Eastridge, who died in February, died April 12, 2018.  A Memorial service was held May 12, at Glen Mar UMC, with the Rev. Rod Miller officiating.

Nell Eastridge was born in Wytheville, Virginia, March 8, 1931.  She was a graduate of Towson State College with a B.S. degree in 1974 and Master’s of Education in 1981.

She worked in the Payroll Departments at Rutherford Freight Lines and Sperry Farragut Company in Bristol, Tenn., where she met her husband.

She and the Rev. Roby Eastridge married in 1953, and had 65 years together before his death. They had two sons who survive.

They moved to Maryland and she began a career in education, in the St. Mary’s County School System from 1958-1965, then teaching in elementary schools in the Baltimore City School System for 25 years. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, and international honor society in education.

For 34 years, sge supported her husband as a pastor’s wife, as he served Urbana UMC (1958-61); Walkersville-Lewistown Charge (1962-64); Lexington Park UMC (1964-68); Brooklyn Heights UMC (1968-69); Howard Park UMC (1969-75); Trinity UMC (1975-77) and First UMC in Laurel for 12 years, 1977-89, from which he retired. They then moved to Johnson City, Tenn., and she became an active member of Munsey UMC.

Survivors include her two sons, Jeffrey Eastridge who lives in California, and Jonathan Eastridge of Elkridge; and a granddaughter.
