From the COVID-19 Crisis to Economic Justice - Conversation with Maryland Delegate Wanika Fisher and Andrea Johnson

The COVID-19 crisis is not just a health crisis, it is an economic crisis that risks further entrenching racial and gender disparities if we don’t act. Women, people of color, and immigrants are on the frontlines of COVID-19—as a large percentage of those providing essential services and those being impacted by massive job loss and struggling to work and care for children as schools and many child care providers close. And yet these communities are being left out and left behind in the federal COVID relief response. Maryland Delegate Wanika Fisher and Andrea Johnson from the National Women’s Law Center will break down the racial and gender impact of the COVID-19 economic crisis in BWC communities and what policies are needed to move us into a world where we can all work with safety, dignity, and respect.
