Advanced Study: This course is for those who have completed a Basic Instruction class and is approved to become a certified lay servant or is a certified lay servant who needs to complete their three-year requirement to re-certify as a certified lay servant.
This course is also approved as a course for the Certified Lay Speaker track

Be sure to keep a copy of the certificate you will receive upon completion of the course. It will be needed if you complete an advanced course and apply to become a Certified Lay Servant. You will need copies of both the Basic completion certificate and the Advanced certificate for your annual report for Charge Conference.
A lay servant is a person who has been called by God to serve the church. The person must be a member in good standing of a United Methodist church. A Certified Lay Servant is a person who has been called by God to serve the church.
