Let's Connect Baltimore Metropolitan District: June 6, 2017

Mt Zion UMC is hosting a "Celebration of Elevation" for Rev. Dr. Wanda Duckett as she says farewell to Mt Zion and steps into her new position as the District Superintendent for the Baltimore-Washington Conference.

The celebration will be on June 24, 4-8 PM at Coppin State University (Tawes Ballroom) 2500 West North Ave, Baltimore. Tickets are available to purchase, $35 for adults, $25 for children 12 and under. Contact Mt Zion at (410)664-7490 or .

Fund Balance Reports: The local church annual Fund Balance Report is due by June 30, 2017.  Updated forms are available on the BWC Forms, Reports and Requests website under "Finance and Administration".  Please submit your completed form to Christine Kumar any time between now and the June 30 deadline.  

Events in the Fall

The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection invites you to Leadership Institute 2017, which takes place at the Leawood, KS campus, September 27 - 29, 2017.  Registration is now open!

Local Church Events

 

Martin Luther King Jr UMC had their first paint nite. Look at all the budding artists! 

Back River UMC will begin its free summer gospel concert series by hosting Grammy nominated Doug Anderson, formerly of Ernie Haase and Signature Sound on Sunday, June 25th at 7 p.m.  The rest of the concert series features: The "Riders" on Sunday, July 16th; The Kramers on Friday, August 4th; Soul'd Out Quartet on Friday, September 1; and The Siler Family on Sunday, October 22nd.  Each concert begins at 7 p.m.; we will receive a love offering at each concert to support the ministries of the various artists.  

 Deaf Ministry Picnic on August 13, 11 AM at Patapsco Hilton Area. The cost is $5 or just a bring a dish to share.

COORDINATOR OF MEAL PROGRAM: Summer Supper Ministry--Grace United Methodist Church

Grace United Methodist Church is sponsoring a summer meal ministry at the Willow Avenue Park in Baltimore, MD. This ministry provides a free meal to children (18 years and younger) each weeknight between Monday, June 19 and Friday, August 25 in a neighborhood park.

The Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of the meal service each evening, which includes:

  • Receiving the meals each evening
  • Supervising the volunteers who serve the meals
  • Overseeing all necessary clean up
  • Maintaining the necessary supplies
  • Recording and reporting the meal data

The Coordinator must be comfortable working with both children and adults, demonstrate independence and reliability, and have the necessary computer skills for meal data entry. A background check will be required.

This is a temporary, part-time position with no benefits. The hours will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, running from Monday June 19 through Friday, August 25. There is no meal service on July 4th and Tuesday, August 1. The hourly pay will be $18 per hour.
