Position Description:

An employee of Community Church shall be part of however not an actual congregational member of the TUMC; he or she works within the context of Christian community as a member of the servant ministry team to fulfill the church’s mission and vision.

 CHARACTER

  2. As the person who first represents “the face of Christ through Community Church” practices courtesy and hospitality to members, regular attendees, guests, vendors, and any other who enter our premises regardless of age, background, and race
  3. A person who listens with empathy, reports accurately, and maintains confidences according to the guidance of the Pastor, and who is willing to sign a confidentiality agreement.
  4. A person who takes responsibility for the quality of their work and who does it as unto God
  5. Supports the Pastor and senior leadership group at TUMC and understands, supports, and seeks to fulfill the mission of the church to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world

 REQUIREMENTS

  1. Good computer skills, with competency and proficiency in Microsoft Office-including Word, Power Point, Publisher, and Excel
  2. Courteous professional telephone manners
  3. Knowledge of office equipment including copiers and printers
  4. Proficiency in grammar, editing, and proof reading
  5. High school diploma is minimum, with 3 years of administrative experience, associate’s or bachelor’s degree a plus
  6. Familiarity with digital calendaring and database management
  7. Beneficial knowledge and/or willingness to learn the polity and organization of the United Methodist Church.
  8. Basic understanding and experience with the life and ministry of a church

 POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepares, duplicates, and distributes weekly worship bulletin and news, prepares    bulletins for weddings and funerals as needed
  2. Answers the telephone with hospitable telephone etiquette, takes accurate messages, follows up as necessary, and informs appropriately
  3. Coordinates wedding plan information with the organist and custodian
  4. Supports communication within the staff and among senior Leadership and Ministry Team Leaders
  5. Facilitates collaborative approaches to work
  6. Maintains focus when interrupted, showing kindness without attitude, and accurately completes necessary tasks
  7. Provides general office support for all church staff
  8. Maintains the church files including keeping the church membership database up to date
  9. Assists the Church Council with duplication and distribution of minutes
  10. Sends reminders for timely preparation of schedules for worship to leaders, greeters,and ushers
  11. Receives and distributes all church mail
  12. Prepares correspondence as requested by staff
  13. Works closely with Communications Coordinator
  14. Coordinates the preparation of Charge Conference materials and supports the preparation of the statistical reports
  15. Other duties as assigned

 SUPERVISOR-Pastor and SPRC Chair

This is a part time, nonexempt position, hours are 9 am – 12 noon 3 days per week, however this will be finalized with the church and employee.
