  • Annapolis District - Oct. 10, Severna Park UMC in Severna Park

Orders meet with bishop: Bishop LaTrelle Easterling will meet with the Order of Elders from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Reisterstown UMC at 246 Main St. in Reisterstown. The bishop will meet with the Order of Deacons Oct. 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the BWC Conference Center and with the Fellowship of Local Pastors Oct. 5 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Linden Linthicum UMC, 12101 Linden Linthicum Lane in Clarksville.

Local Church Events: 

  • Sollers UMC in Lothian will celebrate its 145th anniversary Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. 

Discipleship Ministries

Leadership Development  

  • A workshop for church administrators will be held Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the BWC Mission Center in Fulton. In the morning, the Rev. Brian K. Brown will discuss the "Outward Mindset" and in the afternoon the focus will be on how play can improve communications in any workplace environment.  $35. Learn more and register.   
     
  • Orders meet with bishop: Bishop LaTrelle Easterling will meet with the Order of Elders from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Reisterstown UMC at 246 Main St. in Reisterstown. The bishop will meet with the Order of Deacons Oct. 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the BWC Conference Center. Provisional Elders and Provisional Deacons are welcome at these gatherings. Bishop Easterling will meet with the Fellowship of Local Pastors Oct. 5 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Linden Linthicum UMC, 12101 Linden Linthicum Lane in Clarksville. Anyone serving a local church is invited to attend this meeting.  
     
  • Learn more about the practical steps to consecrated, licensed or ordained ministry in The United Methodist Church at the Living Your Call Summit Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Mission Center. This event is designed for those experiencing a call to ministry and for pastors and church leaders who are assisting those discerning their call. The keynote speaker will be Chaplain Stephen Faller, author of "Christianity and the Art of Wheelchair Maintenance: A Dialectical Inquiry at the End of the World." Advocacy and Action

Re-Call, a social justice conference, will be held Oct 18-19 at St. Mary's Ecumenical Institute in Baltimore. The conference will use the arts to explore the roots of privilege, power and poverty in the America. The keynote speaker will be David Hooker Anderson, an expert in conflict transformation with JustPeace. The cost is $99. Learn more

 

Young People's Ministry

  • Youth: Your voice matters! As the BWC seeks to create its Student Leadership Cohort program, they are seeking the input of highs school students.  High school students are invited to take this 90-second survey.
  • Fall Youth Worker Training, Saturday, Oct. 12, at Asbury UMC in Arnold, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Led by Kyndra Davis, this training will provide you with the basics of mental health, what it may look like, how it can affect you, how to manage it, as well as managing your own self-care amid caring for others. You will also learn information about the different populations that are affected and how to help. Cost: $10. Learn more and register. Registration closes Thursday, Oct. 10.
  • Registration is now open for ROCK 2020, which will be held Feb. 7-9 at the convention center in Ocean City. Learn about this life-transforming event at www.bwcumc.org/rock.
