Requesting Prayers for Rev. Maidstone Mulenga

Dear Beloved of the Baltimore-Washington and Peninsula-Delaware Area,
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.
Please join me in fervent prayer for our beloved brother and colleague, the Rev. Maidstone Mulenga, who is in serious condition and receiving care in the intensive care unit of a local hospital.
Many throughout the Baltimore-Washington and Peninsula-Delaware Episcopal Area know Maidstone through his faithful service to the church. Before assuming his current role as Director of Communications for the Council of Bishops, he has served as Bishop’s Assistant and Director of Connectional Ministries for the Baltimore-Washington Conference. He is not simply a colleague in ministry, but a cherished member of the Baltimore-Washington Conference and our connectional family.
In moments such as these, we cling to our assurance that even in the midst of uncertainty, God is present, God is faithful and God’s love never fails.
I invite you to lift Maidstone in prayer. Praying earnestly for healing and restoration. Let us also surround his beloved wife and daughters with our prayers, asking God to grant them strength for each moment, peace that surpasses all understanding and the abiding assurance that they do not walk this difficult journey alone. We pray, too, for the physicians, nurses and medical professionals entrusted with his care, that they may be guided by wisdom, compassion and skill.
During this time, the family has requested that they not be contacted directly by phone or email as they continue to consult with Maidstone’s medical team. I ask that we honor their wishes and afford them the privacy and space they need. However, we know the fervent prayers of the righteous are always received.
May the God who is able to do exceedingly above all that we ask or imagine hold Maidstone and his family in the tenderness of divine care. And may we remain steadfast in prayer, trusting in the healing power, abiding presence and unfailing faithfulness of our God.
Blessings and peace,
Bishop LaTrelle Miller Easterling
