Rev. Theodore "Ted" Daniel Marsh, Jr.

The Rev. Theodore "Ted" Daniel Marsh, Jr.,64, an Associate Member serving a three-point charge in Morgan County, W. Va., died Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle. A funeral service was held Sept. 12, at Mt. Zion UMC, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The Rev. Michael Leedom and District Superintendent Conrad Link officiated.

Theodore Daniel Marsh Jr. was born Nov. 22, 1953, in Baltimore, the son of Helen May Mayne Marsh and the late Theodore Daniel Marsh Sr.  He was a 1971 graduate of Lansdowne High School, and earned an Associate Degree from Catonsville Community College. He held a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Baltimore and was a graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.

Prior to his current pastorate of the Mt. Zion UMC, Grace UMC and Cherry Run UMC in Morgan County, W. Va., he served the Rohrsville Charge, 1981-1984; Pikeside UMC, 1984-1998, when he left pastoral ministry to serve the West Virginia Youth Adv. Plan until 2007. He then pastored Ellerslie UMC until 2014, when he was appointed to Sleepy Creek UMC in Berkeley Springs, W. Va.

Marsh served on the Cumberland-Hagerstown District Board of Church Location and Building. He was active with United Methodist Volunteers in Mission and served on the board of Camp Joy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, teaching and was an accomplished woodworker.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Eileen Rix Marsh; his children, Matthew Aaron Marsh of Berkeley Springs and Sarah Beth Williams and her husband Joseph, Sr. of Dundalk, Md., two step children, Jason Alan Shiflett of Frederick, and Charles Aaron Shiflett and his wife Mary of Abingdon, three grandchildren and one step-grandson. He is also survived by his mother and three brothers.
