On Sunday, May 28, the congregations of Wards Memorial UMC in Owings, and Corkran Memorial UMC in Temple Hills, worshipped together at the West River United Methodist Center. There was singing, prayer, Scripture and the preached Word, “I Got the Keys,” was brought forth by Lesley Newman-Sewell, Pastor of Corkran Memorial. We were reminded of the scripture that says, “How pleasant it is for brethren to join together in unity.”

The men of Ward’s Memorial greeted each arriving worshipper with smiles as they had the grill already fired up and smoking. It was a joy to watch the youth and elders gather. Some came with walkers, canes and in strollers.

The rain could not stop us from enjoying God’s creation. When the rain started, many parishioners stayed on and enjoyed each other in conversation and laughter. All those in attendance had a great time and will return next year. It was indeed a great experience to worship outside the four walls of the church.
