Members of the the Baltimore-Washington Conference believe in the Methodist principle of putting their faith into action to bring about systemic change for the good of all people, especially the least, the last and the lost, who played a special role in Christ's ministry.
To bring about change, United Methodists work in partnership with others to play an active role in lobbying local, state and national legislators, especially on such issues at homelessness, healthcare, immigration, education, welfare, home energy costs, the death penalty and gambling.
Sumayya Coleman is the legislative advocate for the Baltimore-Washington Conference. She coordinates the United Methodist presence during the Maryland legislative sessions. Coleman can be reached at BWCUMCAdvocate@aol.com or 410-268-4122.
