Elizabeth Ferguson Smith

Elizabeth Ferguson Smith, 84, the widow of the late Rev. Donald M. Smith and a resident of Homewood at Frederick, died May 1, 2018, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. A funeral service was held May 17 at Crosswind Church in Westminster.

Elizabeth Ferguson was born Jan. 17, 1934, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Remick and Anna Ferguson.

Smith was a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Master's Degree in social work. She was employed as a social worker and retired from Asbury Methodist Village. She enjoyed gardening and quilting.

She and the Rev. Donald Montgomery Smith married in 1955. They had four children who survive. He died in 2010.

She was a devoted pastor’s wife and served with him in his appointed churches: the Morgan Charge from 1971-1978, Ferndale UMC from 1978-1983 and Trinity UMC in Frederick for one year, followed in 1984 to Rockland UMC in Ellicott City where they remained until he retired in 1997.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son Steven M. Smith. 

Surviving her are daughters Stephanie Ann and Bill Price of Frederick, Susan Jane and Jay Belt of Westminster, Sherrie Jean and Rodney Harrison of Westminster; 11 grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
