Benefit Gospel Music Concert to Support Quality of Life Retreats

St. Luke’s Health Ministries presents its 2nd Annual Gospel Music Concert, a benefit fundraiser to support health and wholeness ministries, including Quality of Life Retreats.

When: Sunday, May 6, 4 p.m.
Where: St. Luke Catholic Church, 4925 East Capitol Street, S.E. Washington
Cost: No admission charge, but there will be a free-will offering to support these ministries
Featured performers include: St. Luke’s Choir and Liturgical Dancers; The Cornish Family; Encouraged; Sacred Ground; and Mary, Queen of the Apostles.

Lighten the Burden IV AIDS Conference

Lighten the BurdenLighten the Burden IV AIDS Conference, April 23, 2012 (one day before General Conference begins), from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hyde Park UM Church, Tampa, Fla. 

Raymond Shattuck, board chairman of Quality of Life Retreats, will present information about our ministry at this event.   You are invited to participate in this quadrennial conference, titled “Tackling the AIDS Pandemic: The State of the World.” Discover how faith-based organizations are tackling HIV and AIDS locally and around the world.

"We invite delegates to join us for this event the day prior to the 2012 General Conference," said Dr. Donald Messer, chair of the UMC Global AIDS Fund, the event’s sponsor. "The church can play a pivotal role in the eradication of AIDS. We need to do more and cannot become complacent."

19th Annual Concert for Life: An AIDS Benefit

Friday, May 18
Concert at 8 p.m. Tickets: $25

Plan now to attend the 19th Annual Concert for Life benefit at Foundry UMC, 16th & P Streets, Washington, D.C. on May 18.  Joie de Vivre! (Joy of Living!) is a celebration in song of friendship, beauty, love, and all of life's joys.  Stanley J. Thurston will direct the Concert for Life Choir, soloists, and instrumentalists in a varied recital of music from American and International collections of song.

All of the proceeds from this all-volunteer, non-sectarian concert go to benefit organizations that help people living with HIV/AIDS, such as Quality of Life Retreats. Tickets are $25 and are available at the door or online at  www.concertforlife.org.

Community Outreach Event

Quality of Life Retreats will hold another information session on October 20, 2012, to explain what this important, life-changing ministry is all about. Please join us at Grace UMC, 5407 N. Several retreat staff and participants will be there to talk about the history, program and outlook of Quality of Life Retreats and the beneficial impact it has on many lives.
