CCYM is the Conference Council on Youth Ministries.

Each local United Methodist Church has a council on youth ministries responsible for the youth programs of that church.

All the local churches of a district are connected by a district council
on youth ministries, which is responsible for youth events and programs which can connect the youth of many local churches. There are nine districts in our conference which includes the District of Columbia, most of Maryland and a eastern panhandle of West Virginia.

It is our prayer that God will use the
CCYM to focus our youth ministries on the transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that we will be emboldened by the Holy Spirit to be agents for renewal in our church, and that we may grow together in Christian servanthood. Recognizing that youth are  a vital part of the body of Christ

Souper Bowl of Caring

Friends,
As you know, many of our churches participate in the annual Souper Bowl of Caring.  If you have youth minister lists, please pass this on.  We are almost to the 1 million dollar point.  I think if we beat the bushes a little, we will hit that mark.

To report, they would just go to www.souperbowl.org

Thanks for sending a gentle reminder!

Peace,
Jay

Nothing But Nets
Nothing But NetsRead about what one youth Will McCurry, from St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Kensington, MD is doing to help support and educate about malaria in Zimbabwe. http://nothingbutnets.net/

Friends,

The people of The United Methodist Church have joined with the United Nations Foundation, NBA Cares, Sports Illustrated and others in support of Nothing But Nets, a global effort to end malaria, a leading killer of thousands of children in Africa each year.

For only $10 you can save a life by buying a bed net to protect children and adults while they sleep.

Visit www.umc.org/nets to donate or to purchase a Nothing But Nets Game Plan Kit to help your church or organization save countless lives.

What if you could save a child’s life just by skipping lunch for one day?   April 25 is Africa Malaria Awareness Day. Malaria Awareness Day in the U.S. is an attempt to educate the public about a disease that kills one child in Africa every 30 seconds.

United Methodists are encouraged to skip lunch and donate the money saved to the Nothing But Nets campaign - www.NothingButNets.net - to purchase mosquito bed nets for children in Africa. A $10 contribution will pay for an insecticide-treated bed net, getting it to a family in Africa and teaching them how to use it properly. A challenge grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is matching contributions dollar for dollar, so your gift will have twice the impact.

If you have questions contact Jo Chesson at jchesson@bwcumc.org

GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST!

This Web site is a sample of the youth ministry programs being offered through the Youth Ministries division of the Baltimore-Washington Conference Council on Ministries. It is our intention to offer programs and resources that will honor God and strengthen the youth ministries of our Annual Conference spiritually as well as programmatically.

I believe God is calling us to do a new thing in Youth Ministry. I believe we are being called to come together and begin laying a foundation for how we will disciple youth and each other for years to come.

Recognizing that youth are a vital part of the Body of Christ, the CCYM is committed to:

Focus on joyful Christian discipleship
Develop programs and events that promote Christian fellowship, growth, and unity
Encourage and empower youth leaders
Be both a forum and an advocate for the youth of the Baltimore-Washington Conference
It is our prayer that God will use the CCYM to help focus our youth ministries on the transforming power of the gospel of Jesus Christ, that we will be emboldened by the Holy Spirit to be agents for renewal in our church, and that we may grow together in Christian servanthood.
