Church History:
Smith?s Chapel has been an integral part of the Harford County church community since 1857. At that time, the entire Country was divided, weak and exhausted over the moral and economic dilemmas that surrounded slavery. Revival to reclaim the moral standards being lost was reaching from state to state, and the people in the Churchville Maryland community came together to pray for repentance and healing. The founders of Smith?s Chapel were a group of men and women who covenanted to help heal the wounds of a tired Country and right the wrongs of the day. Its main structure is the result of revival services held on the grounds in 1857. Since its very beginning, Smith?s Chapel has put God and the Lord Jesus Christ at the forefront. The faith of its members has allowed Smith?s Chapel to grow in love and fellowship. Since the 1920s, Smith?s Chapel?s walls have expanded, a cemetery has been created, families have been connected to God and each other. The faith of the collective Smith?s Chapel family has flowed into the community. To the present day, Smith?s Chapel continues to feed the hungry, house the homeless and minister to fellow children of God from all walks of life. Its walls have provided solace and respite for weary, tired and exhausted people trying to find their way to God. Smith?s Chapel remains an obedient servant of God Almighty.
