Discipleship Academy

The Academy's goal is to build authentic spiritual leaders for the twenty-first century, giving each learner building tools and opening the mind to new and exciting ways of making disciples for Jesus Christ and the Church in his spirit.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

	Call . Equip . Send . Support provides individualized training in several areas that will help the participant gain deeper understanding and broader insights into themselves, their congregations and the communities in which they serve. The expected result is spiritual leaders living transformed lives and transformational ministries.
	Exhorters in the early Methodist societies challenged and encouraged the members in their spiritual growth. After a sermon by the pastor an exhorter would give practical applications of the sermon to the society members. The term exhorter has been replaced by lay servant in today's UMC.
	The Certified Lay Minister (CLM) is a position to enhance the quality of ministry and ability of small membership churches and team ministry in larger membership churches to meet the spiritual and temporal needs of a constantly changing world. (272/2004 Book of Discipline)
