The Baltimore-Washington Conference of The United Methodist Church employs more than 60 people on its staff – all working to call, equip, send and support spiritual leaders who are transforming the world.

Based in a new, state-of-the-art Mission Center in Fulton, Maryland, the staff supports the work of 665 churches in Maryland, Washington, D.C., the panhandle of West Virginia and Bermuda in a variety of ways – from finance and administration to communications and equipping leadership.

Employment Opportunities within the Baltimore-Washington Mission Center

The Baltimore-Washington Conference is currently seeking a graphic designer to serve on the conference staff.

The primary responsibilities of the graphic designer include conceptualizing and creating print, web and marketing visuals for the Baltimore-Washington Conference, a connection of 641 area United Methodist churches. This includes the layout and design of the conference’s award-winning monthly newspaper. Applicants should have strong design skills and be skilled in working with typography, color, design, image editing and layout for web and printed pieces. Proficiency in InDesign and understanding of other Adobe Creative Suite programs is desirable, along with some knowledge of HTML. Strong photographic skills are also sought.  An abiding sense of creativity, ability to meet deadlines and the desire to collaborate as part of a team are essential.

A bachelor’s degree in graphic design or equivalent, along with a minimum of three to five years of experience are required.  Along with a resume, applicants should submit a portfolio of work and/or links to sites or publications for which they have designed.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church seeks a Church Development Director, a Christ-centered individual tirelessly passionate for the work of forming disciples of Jesus. The successful candidate will understand and accept the teamwork and accountability inherent in the framework and structure of the Indiana Conference, and will competently continue the work already begun with the use of the Fruitful Congregational Journey model. The successful candidate also will understand the values of diversity and apply this understanding to working with the changing demographics of the state of Indiana. The chosen candidate will have a high capacity for dealing with complexity and competing priorities, and a high tolerance for the extensive investment of weekend and personal time in order to accomplish the mission and vision of the program. The position holds high potential for the expression of individual initiative and innovation, and for the realization of having meaningful impact on the life of the church and the people it embraces. Applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree coupled with pertinent experience that generally could not be accumulated in less than five years.
